The international conference "Act.1 Defining Architectural and Urban Ambiances", organised as part of COST Action CA23145, invites researchers and professionals to explore the concept of "ambience" in architecture and urbanism. The conference addresses sensory, cultural, and spatial dimensions of built environments through five main topics: 1. Defining Ambiances – theoretical frameworks, multi-sensory methods, interdisciplinary collaboration. 2. Data Collection and Archiving – resources, methods, and practices for collecting, organizing, and preserving ambiance-related information. 3. Balancing and Aligning – harmonizing definitions, methodologies, and terminologies among diverse approaches. 4. Innovation Scouting – showcasing innovative projects, tools, and methods in sensory and ambiance-oriented design. 5. Outreaching and Training – effective strategies for communicating ambiance concepts to designers, researchers, users, and policymakers. Abstracts are due by May 15th, full papers by June 30th, and the conference will be held on July 3rd and 4th.
